Brandon Sand, a native of Wichita, Kan., joined the Mary Baldwin University athletic department as the Assistant Athletic Trainer. Sand will assist with all 15 MBU varsity sports but have primary responsibility for several sports that will be assigned.
Sand joins the Fighting Squirrels after spending two years at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C., as an assistant athletic trainer. While at Methodist, Sand worked with the football, men's soccer, men's and women's cross country, cheer and men's and women's tennis teams.
He is a 2019 graduate of Kansas State University, with a BS in Athletic Training and a minor in Kinesiology. He presented his research in "Training Effectiveness for Assessors of SAAT" at the MAATA and the Kansas State Undergraduate Research Conference.
Sand, who has certifications and licenses in Athletic Training, CPR and AED, is also in the process of finishing his MS degree in Kinesiology at California Baptist University, with an anticipated graduation of August, 2021. He is transitioning his North Carolina Athletic Training certification to Virginia.
