Ryan Legarsky joined the Mary Baldwin University Department of Athletics as the sports information director in March 2019.
While in the position, Legarsky will be in charge of disseminating updates and information regarding all athletic programs associated with the Fighting Squirrels. He serves as the primary contact for all intercollegiate teams and will also lead statistical inputting for all home events and social media for the athletic channels among other department duties.
Legarsky spent the last two academic years as the assistant sports information director at Methodist University - also a USA South institution. While in Fayetteville, Legarsky was the primary contact for 10 of the 20 MU intercollegiate programs, including baseball/softball, men's and women's soccer, tennis, cross country and track & field teams. Legarsky created game day programs for each home event, set up and ran live video streams and live stats, updated the website regularly and communicated with local media. Of note, Legarsky covered the Methodist men's golf program claiming its 12th national championship and a women's soccer conference championship. He also promoted multiple all-region performers as well as All-America selections. His leadership with the Monarch social media accounts led MU near the top of the conference in followers and interactions. Legarsky also served as a play-by-play voice for multiple sports and trained work-study students and interns with StatCrew and website maintenance.
Prior to arriving at MU, Legarsky was a sports information graduate assistant at NCAA Division II California University of Pennsylvania. His duties included gameday management and served as a secondary contact for all athletic teams. He worked on gameday materials, including programs, and ran social media efforts. Prior to this, Legarsky served as a summer intern for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) sports information office. While interning with the Crimson Hawks, he assisted in putting together the 2015 football media guide as well as other assigned duties.
Legarsky was a sports information student assistant at Waynesburg University where he received a degree in communications with a focus on sports broadcasing/sports information. He also was an executive staff member of the campus radio station, WCYJ-FM, for three years as the music director. Legarsky regularly scheduled music and added new content for the top 40 station and also ran music for specialty shows of varying genres. In addition, Legarsky attended most campus events as a DJ and trained all newcomers to the radio station, which was around 30 on-air talent each year. He worked as a sports commentator for several sports, including the first of its kind wrestling broadcasts for the university as well as local web-streaming stations.
A native of Clarksburg, Pennsylvania, Legarsky currently resides in Fishersville with his wife, Hannah.
