
HARRISONBURG - The Mary Baldwin baseball team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule Thursday, losing 10-3 to Eastern Mennonite.
The Fighting Squirrels jumped out to a 1-0 lead in their first at bat. Noah Kessler led off the game with a double and reached third on a wild pitch. Kessler scored on a sacrifice fly by Tucker Hensley for a 1-0 MBU lead.
EMU responded with four runs in the bottom of the first inning and added another run in the second to lead 5-1.
Kessler tripled in the fifth inning and scored on Hensley's groundout to close the margin to 5-2, but the Royals pulled away for the 10-3 victory.
Kessler had two hits and scored two runs while Hensley drove in a pair of runs. Jared Mayhew also had two hits.
Mary Baldwin will clsoe out the 2022 season this weekend when it hosts Pfeiffer for a three-game series at Moxie Stadium.
