Squirrels Lose Game 3 At Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. -The Mary Baldwin baseball team finished its three-game series at Brevard with a 14-3 loss Sunday.

Mary Baldwin struck first with a run in the first inning. Michael Robertson led off with a single and stole second. After Josh Lallo reached on an error,  moving Robertson to third, Tyler Morley drove in the run with a sac fly for a 1-0 MBU lead.

The Squirrels scored again in the top of the third after loading the bases on singles by Noah Kessler, Lallo and Morley. Kessler scored on Jacob Cude's sac fly for a2-0 Squirrels' lead. Tyler Smith walked to reload to sacks and Will Earnesty was hit by apitch, giving Mary Baldwin a 3-0 lead.

Brevard took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the third and pulled ay for the win.

MBU had 12 hits in the game, edging out Brevard's 11 hits, but left 10 runners on base. Michael Robertson went 3-for-5 on the day with a double and Tyler Smith went 2-for-3 with a walk. 

Squirrels' pitcher Lucas Chinault came ion in relief thew three innings of shutout baseball, keeping the Tornados' bats to just two hits.

MBU will return to action when they host N.C Wesleyan on Senior day, Saturday, April 22, at 5:00 p.m.
