MBU Pulls Away From Christendom

STAUNTON, Va. - The Mary Baldwin men's basketball team won Wednesday evening in non-conference action against Christendom College. The Fighting Squirrels defeated the Crusaders 88-54 and are now 3-4 on the season while Christendom falls to 2-1.

The Squirrels had four players with double digits, including freshman guard Zach Sloan who scored 11 points in the span of 7 minutes on 4-of-8 shotting from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range. Sophomore forward Brandon Stoudamire tied for team-high honors with 11 points, making 5-of-10 shots. He also gathered a team-high six rebounds. Vernon Fraley and Quentin Hart each scored 10 points. 

Mary Baldwin started out the first half with a 26-9 lead and never looked back as the Squirrels received contributions from everyone on the team.

The Squirrel's defense restricted Christendom shooting to just 37% from the floor and 18.2% from three. The Squirrels also held an advantage in rebounds by a 43-35 margin.

The Fighting Squirrels will travel on Saturday, December 3rd to face Wilson at 1:00 p.m. in non-conference action.
