
BREVARD, N.C - The Mary Baldwin men's basketball team won Saturday evening in conference action beating Brevard College 91-71.
The Squirrels had an explosive first half. After jumping out to a seven-point lead in the first five minutes of the game, the Squirrels kept the pace and closed the half up 56-31. The Squirrels shot 23-of-36 (63.9%) from the field and 9-of-16 (56.3%) from three in the first half with 28 points coming from the paint. The Tornados started out the second half hot scoring 10 points in three minutes before the Squirrels took over on both sides of the ball to end the game.
The Squirrels had three players in double-digits as Jaden Ignacio scored 20 points while shooting 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-7 from behind the arc. Brandon Stoudamire tallied 19 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the field. Stoudamire also led the team in rebounds with six Quentin Hart tallied 16 points with four rebounds and a team-high four assists for the Squirrels.
The Squirrels will return to action Saturday, February 4 at 2:00 pm when they travel to play Methodist University in conference action.
