
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C - The Mary Baldwin men's basketball team won Saturday evening in conference action beating Methodist University 85-68.
The Squirrels wasted no time taking a huge lead in the first half as they dominated both sides of the ball, using great ball movement on offense to push the pace. The Squirrels shot 50% (17-of-34) from the field and 60% (6-of-10) from three to enter the half with a 46-28 lead. Out of the half, the Monarchs kept pace with Mary Baldwin on offense stopping any attempt to expand on the 20-point lead, but the Squirrels' defense kept the Monarchs' 3-point shooting to just 13.3% (2-of-15) to prevent any comeback and end the game, 85-68.
The Squirrels had four players in double-digits as sophomore forward Brandon Stoudamire led the team with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go along with four rebounds. Sophomore guard Quentin Hart tallied 18 ppints, gping 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-7 from three point range. Hart also grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Brett Asbury had 13 points with a team-high five assists and eight rebounds while sophomore forward Vernon Fraley tallied 10 points, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from three.
The Squirrels will return to action Tuesday, February 7th at 6:00 pm when they host Southern Virginia, 11-10 overall and 4-6 in the conference.
