
STAUNTON, Va. – The Mary Baldwin University men's soccer team kicks off its inaugural varsity season this fall and has announced its upcoming schedule on Tuesday.
The Fighting Squirrels begin the slate with four consecutive road match ups, including trips to Shenandoah (Aug. 30), Hampden-Sydney (Sept. 4), Virginia Wesleyan (Sept. 7) and Bridgewater (Sept. 11).
MBU opens the conference slate with its home opener against Maryville, which is the reigning-USA South Tournament champion, on Sept. 14. Three of the next four contests will be at home against Berea (Sept. 15), Southern Virginia (Sept. 18) and Greensboro (Sept. 25) before traveling to William Peace (Sept. 28).
Three consecutive league matches at home against Pfeiffer (Oct. 1), Methodist (Oct. 4) and Covenant (Oct. 5) leads into a two-week stretch of road contests before closing out the regular season at home against Averett on Oct. 26.
In total, the squad will participate in 18 contests in its first year of varsity competition, including eight games at home.
