ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Mary Baldwin University men's soccer program dropped a 4-2 contest to N.C. Wesleyan in USA South action.
The Fighting Squirrels fall to 4-4 overall with a 1-2 mark in league play, while the Battling Bishops improve to 5-1-1 on the season behind a 3-0 conference mark.
In the first half, the Bishops got on the board early as Baboucarr Njie scored at the 1:38 mark before Lucas Menzo added another in the third minute. Ricardo Meyer made the score 3-0 as he found the back of the net at the 32:00 mark. Aazah Daniel made it 4-0 right before the break as he scored at the 44th minute.
In the second period, Carr Panetta recorded a pair of goals one in the 59th minute and in the 64th minute to cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Bishops outshot the Fighting Squirrels 20-6, while holding a slim 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
Obdulio Argueta made 10 saves in all 90 minutes, while Tobias Borzel pushed aside three shots in the win.
The Fighting Squirrels are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 25, as they play host to Greensboro at 4 pm.
