MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Mary Baldwin University men's soccer team fell to Huntingdon, 5-4, in USA South play on Sunday.
The Fighting Squirrels drop to 7-8 on the year with a 4-6 mark in league play.
MBU scored first and early as Ousmane Dansoko notched his sixth goal of the season at the 8:44 mark . The goal served as the lone score of the first half as the Fighting Squirrels led 1-0 at the half.
A total of eight goals were scored in the second half with MBU getting its second goal of the game off the foot of Alejandro Aragon. Just over two minutes later, the Hawks cut the lead in half as Hunter Hall scored with an assist by T.J. Fleming. HC tied the game in the 72nd minute as Thad Lievens scored his first of the game. MBU retook the lead four minutes later as Aragon added his second of the game. Again, just two minutes later, Lievens tied the game at 3-3. Carr Panetta put the Fighting Squirrels back into the lead at the 78:32 mark at 4-3.
The Hawks tied the game again at the 86:05 mark and took the lead just 25 seconds later with both goals coming from Fleming.
Mary Baldwin outshot the home side 28-14 with 19 of the shots on frame. The Fighting Squirrels also had nine corner kicks compared to just three for the Hawks.
The Fighting Squirrels return to action on Oct. 19 at Piedmont beginning at 2 pm.
