STAUNTON, Va. - Brevard raced out to a 3-1 halftime lead Saturday afternoon and the Tornados went on to defeat Mary Baldwin 5-2 in USA South men's soccer play.
After the visitors took an early 1-0 lead, MBU tied the score when Alexis Barba found the back of the net after receiving a long pass from Douglas Record in the 18th minute.
Brevard added two more goals to lead 3-1 at the break.
The visitors pushed the lead to 4-1 before MBU tallied with 10 minutes left in the game. Edward Headley took advantage of a misplay by Brevard's goalie and stoked a shot into a wide open goal from 20 yards out, making the score 4-2.
The Squirrels, now 2-7-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play, return to action Wednesday with a road trip to Greensboro College.
