Squirrels' Softball Loses Two Close Games At Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Mary Baldwin dropped a pair of close games Saturday at Mary Washington, losing the opener 5-3 and dropping the second game 4-3 in 10 innings.

In the first game, Marybeth Strickler paced the Squirrels with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate and dour stolen bases. Emily Hall and Hadley May each went 2-for-4 int he opener.

In Game 2, Mary Baldwin scored two runs in the sixth to tie the score at 2-2. Allison Crum led off with a single and scored on a double by Hadley May, trimming the Eagles lead to 2-1. Pinch-runner Maisie Spivey moved to third base on a single by Emily Morris and Spivey scored on a throwing error to pull the Squirrels even, 2-2.

In the top of the 10th, a sacrifice bunt by Olivia Gagne moved Keelie Sealock to third and Sealock scored on Strickler's groundout to give MBU a 3-2 lead. The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the 4-3 victory.

Crum and May each had two hits in the second game.
