
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Mary Baldwin men's and women's track teams competed Sunday at the Vince Brown Relays hosted by Christopher Newport University.
Quinland Musgrove turned in solid efforts in both the 800 and long jump for the MBU women. Musgrove placed 8th in the 800 with a time of 2:39.54 and added a 10th-place effort in the long jump at 4.72 meters.
Also competing in the long jump were Kaitlin Bower with a best of 4.37 meters in 15th place and Grace Hearns in 18th with a jump of 4.02 meters.
In the sprints, Bower placed 29th in the 60 meters with a time of 8.85 seconds. In the 200, Hearns placed 37th at 31.12 and Isabel Basilis was 40th at 32.78 seconds.
Hearns also ran in the 60 hurdles, placing 11th with a time of 10.79 seconds.
Brianna Parker placed 20th in the 800 with a time of 3:03.26.
Cloey Mazingo ran the mile in 6:59.84 to finish 24th.
Mazingo and Johannah Dillaway competed in the 3000 meters with Dillaway placing 13th (13:09.94) while Mazingo placed 14th (13:55.08).
Three athletes competed in the shot put with Basilis placing 18th (6.19 meters), Aurora Valencia-Aldana was 19th (6.06) and Dillaway was 20th (5.74).
For the men Christopher Kirksey turned in the top performance, placing fourth in the long jump with a best of 6.55 meters, Ahmed Kanu was 12th in the long jump at 5.61 meters followed by Elijah Butler in 14th at 5.55 meters and Tevian Adams in 18th place.
Butler cleared 1.63 meters for 7th in the high jump while Jeremiah Emmons-Mayo took 9th in the shot put with a throw of 11.15 meters.
The MBU 4x400 relay also finished strong, taking third place with a time of 3:39.44. Running were Kirksey, Shyheim Holmes, Jaylen Jones and Adams.
Jones paced MBU in the sprints, running 7.16 seconds in the 60 meters for the 8th fastest time in the prelims. Jones ran the 200 in 23.93 to place 18th. Also running the 200 were Steven Santiago in 26th (24.11), Kirksey in 27th (24.13), Max Doerwaldt in 54th (25.60) and Tavian Brown in 59th (26.06).
Doerwaldt also ran the 60 hurdles, running 9.22 for the 10th fastest time in the prelims. Emmons-Mayo ran 9.81 for the 16th fastest time.
Holmes paced three MBU runners in the 400 with a time of 56.22 for 26th place. Adams placed 29th (58.76) and Din Rayche was 31st (59.03).
Adams placed 21st in the 800 (2:27.77) and Brendan Plogger finished 27th in the mile (5:19.91).
