LEXINGTON, Va. - The Mary Baldwin men's and women's track teams opened the indoor season this past weekend at the VMI Team Challenge.
MBU's best event for the men proved to be the triple jump. Christopher Kirksey placed fourth overall with a best of 12.94 meters. Elijah Butler took seventh place at 12.67 meters.
Three runners took part in the 60 meters with Kirksey posting the best time at 7.22 seconds. Steven Santiago ran 8.02 and Tristan Bannasch posted a time of 8.29. Kirksey also ran the 200 meters in 22.90 seconds.
In the 600 meters Brendan Plogger posted a 1:34.43 time followed by Din Rayche in 1:36.66. MBU's David Shultz ran the mile in 5:55.16
Butler had a best effort of 5.78 meters in the long jump.
In the shot put, Brandon jones had the best effort for MBU at 11.60 meters. William Reyes threw 9.94 meters and Jonathan Ramirez posted a throw of 9.71 meters.
Kaitlin Bower posted the best result for the women with a best of 10.47 meters to place sixth overall in the triple jump. Bower also jumped 4.51 meters in the long jump.
Quierra Hawkins ran the sprints with a time of 8.42 in the 60 and 28.06 in the 200 meters. Lamyah Martinez also ran the 60 with a time of 8.17.
Jamyah Crawford was best among the MBU athletes in the shot put with a throw of 9.17 meters, just ahead of teammate Kayla Richardson at 9.01 meters. Nyasia Hawkins threw 8.22 meters and Isabel Basilis posted a throw of 8.09 meters.
Brianna Parker had a time of 2:08.63 in the 600 meters and teammate Morgan Martin ran 2:15.98. In the mile, Johannah Dillaway ran 6:59.31 in the mile.
