
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Mary Baldwin's Christopher Kirksey won two events and also anchored a first-place relay team to pace the Squirrels Friday at the D3 Atlantic Indoor Championship Meet held at JDL Fast Track.
The MBU men finished third at the meet and the women placed seventh.
The Squirrels fared well in the sprints where the men scored more than half their points. Kirksey placed first in 200 with a time of 22.75 and took second in the 400 with a time of 49.59. Shyheim Holmes scored in both the 200 and 400. Holmes placed fourth in the 200 at 23.07 and fifth in the 400 with a time of 52.50. Steven Santiago added a fourth-place effort in the 60 meters with a time of 7.14 seconds.
Kirskey anchored MBU's 4x400 winning relay team that finished with a time of 3:40.79. Also running for the Squirrels were Holmes, Santiago and Brendan Plogger.
Kirskey added his second first-place effort in he triple jump with a best of 44 feet, 3.5 inches. Teammate Elijah Butler also scored in the event with a fifth-place jump of 41 feet, 5.55 inches.
William Reyes added a second-place effort in the shot put with a best throw of 38 feet, 9.25 inches.
Quierra Hawkins and Kayla Richardson scored points for the women. Hawkins took fifth in the 200 with a time of 27.49 seconds while Richardson placed fifth in the shot put at 32 feet, 9.25 inches.
