
VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Baldwin track & field athletes competed this past weekend at the Betty S. Rogers Spring Break Invitational hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University.
The men were led by Christopher Kirksey with strong finishes inn two events. Kirksey placed third in the triple jump at 13.42 meters. Teammate Elijah Butler was seventh in the triple jump at 12.54 meters. Kirksey was second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.02 seconds. He also ran a time of 22.86 in the 200 meters, good for fourth place. In the 200, Steven Santiago ran 23.03, Donovan Richardson ran 25.28 and Tristan Bannasch posted a time of 26.91. In the 400, Shyhein Holmes ran 53,21, followed by Din Rayche at 55.36 and Richardson at 1;00.44.
Brendan Plogger ran 2:11.53 in the 800, followed by David Shultz at 2:27.40. Rayche ran 1:11.09 in the 400 hurdles.
In the throws Jonathan Ramirez had a best of 9.94 meters in the shot put and Brandon Jones posted a best of 9.56 meters. Jones led the discus throwers with a best of 28.55 meters, followed by Ramirez at 24.59 and Shultz at 20.92.
Kayla Richardson turned in the top effort for the women with a fourth place throw of 10.55 meters in the shot put. Johannah Dillaway tossed the shot 7.82 meters. Aurora Valencia-Aldana had the best throw in the discus at 23.75 meters with Richardson throwing 17.79 meters.
In the distance events, Alyssa Epperson ran the 1500 meters in 5:53.84 followed by teammate Cloey Mazingo in 6:06.26.
Brianna Parker had a time of 1:36.08 in the 400 hurdles.
Quierra Hawkins paced the sprinters with a time of 28.35 in the 200 meters. Imari Knight ran 30.75 and Lanadia Tarpley ran 31.53.
