Track Teams Compete at Jack Toms Invite

At the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational at Lynchburg University the Mary Baldwin University Track Team had a strong showing from the men's team as well as some great performances from the women's team. 

On the men's side Steven Santiago came in 14th out of 62 runners in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.19 seconds.  Christopher Kirksey coming in just behind in 19th with a time of 11.25 seconds.  In the 200-meter dash Shyheim Holmes came in 23rd out of 71 athletes with a new personal record of 22.76 seconds with Kirksey coming in just before him with a time of 22.34 seconds.  Finally in the 200 Santiago came in fifth with a time of 22.12 seconds raising him to number 1 among the USA South athletes.  In men's field events Elijah Butler had a long jump of 5.52 meters and freshman William Reyes had a shotput throw of 10.69 meters putting him at  18th out of 33 throwers. 

On the women's team Quierra Hawkins dominated the womens 200 with a new personal record time of 26.98. In the women's field events, Kayla Richardson had a great shot put throw of 10.15 meters putting her is 12th out of 26 throwers. Johannah Dillaway would place 18th with a throw of 9.00m and would throw a season's best. Distance had a day of season- best from various athletes. Alyssa Epperson and Morgan Martin both ran season best in the Women's 1500 with times of 5:44.25 and 6:54.07. Cloey Mazingo also posted a season's best time in the woman's 5k with a time of 23:17.26.
