
BREVARD, N.C. - The Mary Baldwin men's track team placed fourth at the USA South Athletic Conference Track & Field Championship Meet, concluded Friday at Brevard College.
The men finished the meet with 54 points while the women's eam scored 11.
Christopher Kirksey and Shyheim Holmes placed second and third in both the 200 and 400 meter events. Kirksey ran 22.13 in the 200 to take second place, just ahead of Holmes at 22.27. in the 400, Kirksey placed second at 48.82 seconds with Holmes next at 50.05.
The two also helped the MBU 4x400 relay team to a strong third-place effort with a time of 3:27.76. Joining Kirksey and Homles for the relay were Din Rayche and Brendan Plogger.
The Squirrels added nine points in the triple jump with Kirksey taking second place with a best of 13.75 meters. Elijah Butler placed sixth with a jump of 13.08 meters.
For the women, Grace Hearns earned third-team all-conference honors with a jump of 10.01 meters to place third in the triple jump.
Quierra Hawkins just missed scoring in the 100 when she placed seventh with a time of 13.45 seconds.
The top three finishers in each event earned all-conference honors.
Kirksey led the Squirrels, earning first team in the long jump and second-team honors in triple jump, 200 and 400. Holmes earned third-team honors in the 200 and 400.
