Johnson Scores Career-High 28 Points in Loss to Ferrum

STAUNTON, VA - Kaybria Johnson scored a career-high 28 points this evening as Mary Baldwin fell to Ferrum College 41-81 in women's basketball.

The Panthers slowly built their lead throughout the first half by executing their half court offense.  The team shot an impressive 56.2% from the floor including 50% from behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

Mary Baldwin was able to minimize their errors in the game but their defense couldn't stop Ferrum's balanced scoring attack.

The visitors cooled off only slightly in the second half but continued to attack and converted at the free thrown line as they pulled away from Mary Baldwin.

Jacole Hairston led Ferrum with 15 points.  Staunton native Kemani Crawford added 14 for the visitors.

Johnson led Mary Baldwin with 28 points.  Teanna Peavy grabbed 11 rebounds.  Ayanni Seay added 6 points and 6 rebounds for the Fighting Squirrels.

Mary Baldwin College 0-14 (0-8 USAS) are at home this weekend hosting William Peace University on Saturday and Meredith College on Sunday.  Both games begin at 2:00pm.
