STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team celebrated Senior Day today and honored four-year player Precious Parker. Parker is a communications major from Germantown, MD.
North Carolina Wesleyan College spoiled the day defeating Mary Baldwin 89-56.
The visitors improved their record to 5-4 in the USA South by controlling the boards and scoring 54 points in the paint.
N.C. Wesleyan College jumped out to a 20-13 lead after the first quarter controlling the inside and grabbing 10 offensive rebounds. The Fighting Squirrels answered with a 9-4 run to start the second quarter to pull within two points but NC Wesleyan answered with a 20-8 run of their own to take a commmanding lead at the half.
The Bishops continued to build on that lead in the final 20 minutes.
Jermalyah Baker led NC Wesleyan with 19 points. Shekinah Huggins grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin's Kaybria Johnson led all scorers with 26 points and tallied 6 rebounds. Juanaysa Singletary came off the bench to score 12 points and pull down 7 rebounds. Teanna Peavy led with 8 rebounds.
