Averett Improves Record with Win over MBC

STAUNTON, VA - Averett University improved their record to 7-5 with a 99-43 win over Mary Baldwin College in women's basketball this evening.

The Cougars took a 21-15 lead after the first quarter then held the Fighting Squirrels to just four points in the second period.

Averett took advantage of numerous Mary Baldwin turnovers while also controlling the inside scoring 58 points in the paint.

Averett's Samm Chandler led all scorers with 21 points.  Frida Lundquist added a double-double tallying 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars.

Mary Baldwin was led by Juanaysa Singletary who finished the game with 14 points and Kaybria Johnson who added 10 points and led the team with 7 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin College 0-13 (0-5 USAS) will be on the road this weekend taking on Huntingdon College on Saturday and LaGrange College on Sunday.
