
Danville, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team fell to Averett University this afternoon 43-98 in USA South play.
The Cougars jumped out to a 22-6 lead in the first quarter and built a 44-19 advantage at the half. Averett controlled the boards and held Mary Baldwin's offense to a field goal percentage of just 21.9% for the game. Mary Baldwin also struggled beyond the arc going just 1 for 16.
Averett used a balanced scoring attack and shot 43.9% from the floor. The home team also went 14 for 30 from beyond the arc.
Frida Lundquist came off of the bench to lead Averett with 21 points. She was followed by Jessica Myers who added 14 points. Lundquist also led the team with rebounds grabbing 10 boards. Samm Chandler added 9 rebounds.
Kaybria Johnson again led Mary Baldwin with 13 points. Juanaysa Singletary followed closely with 11 points. Teanna Peavy led the team with 12 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin College 0-23 (0-14 USAS) finish the season tomorrow at Ferrum College. Tipoff is 2:00PM.
