STAUNTON, VA - Covenant College defeated Mary Baldwin College 76-58 this evening in a USA South matchup.

Both teams came out in the first quarter with a strong offensive performance.  Covenant held a slight 20-17 edge shooting 40% from the floor.  Mary Baldwin put together one of their best performances shooting 41.2%.

In the second quarter, Covenant shot a blistering 63.2% helping them to build their lead to 45-34 at the half. 

The Fighting Squirrels created some turnovers with a full court press in the second half but couldn't chip away at Covenant's lead.

Covenant was led by Aleigha Williams who finished with 16 points.  Rachel Price added 13 points and a game high 14 rebounds.

Kaybria Johnson led Mary Baldwin with a game-high 18 points.  Juanaysa Singletary added 13 while Teanna Peavy posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and 10 points.

Mary Baldwin College 0-16 (0-8 USAS) is scheduled to host Maryville College on Saturday but the game could be postponed due to the weather. Check the website for the most up to date schedule changes.
