STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team returned to action this afternoon after a break for the holidays and fell to Eastern Mennonite University 45-106.
The Royals used a full court press to jump out to an early lead and also dominated the paint scoring 62 points at close range while also outrebounding Mary Baldwin 60-30.
Jess Rheinheimer led the Royals with 21 points. Shannon Thompson grabbed 13 boards.
Mary Baldwin College was led by Kaybria Johnson who tallied 19 points. She was followed by Teanna Peavy who added 11. Juanaysa Singletary and Peavy grabbed 7 and 6 rebounds respectively.
After the game, head coach Andrew Stephens said, "Obviously, we have much to work on, but there was some definite growth and that is something to build on heading into the new year and conference play."
Mary Baldwin College 0-9 (0-2 USAS) continue play on Saturday when they travel to Randolph.
