GREENSBORO, NC - Greensboro College got their first USA South Conference win on Saturday when they defeated Mary Baldwin College 87-45.
Alexis Hite scored 13 points in the first 10 minutes and led the Pride to a 26-11 advantage in the first quarter. The home team continued to dominate throughout with the help of a strong inside game. Greensboro scored 46 points in the paint and outrebounded the Fighting Squirrels 61-40. The Pride shot almost 43% from the floor.
Greensboro was led by Hite who finished with 23 points. She was followed by teammates Jada Peterson and Monica Smalls with 12 points each. Smalls also grabbed 12 rebounds. Maria Crawford added 11 steals and 10 assists.
Mary Baldwin's Kaybria Johnson led all scorers with 24 points. Rakeema Willis and Precious Parker added 8 points each. Teanna Peavy tallied 12 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin College 0-6 (0-2 USAS) will take a break for exams then return to the court on Friday when they travel to Roanoke College.
