
Raleigh, NC - William Peace University defeated Mary Baldwin College this afternoon 82-53 in women's basketball.
Susannah Sykes sank three jumpers from behind the arc in the first two minutes of play to give Peace a 9-5 lead. Juanaysa Singletary answered with three jumpers to bring Mary Baldwin to within one point 8-9. Three layups and another three-point shot by Sykes helped Peace to pull away to a 26-19 first quarter lead.
The home team continued to build on their lead in the second quarter and throughout the remainder of the game.
The Pacers shot an impressive 61.5% from beyond the arc and 52.4% overall. William Peace bested Mary Baldwin on the boards and scored 36 points in the paint.
Sykes led William Peace with 20 points. Cassidy Clark added 10 rebounds and 18 points.
Mary Baldwin was lead by Kaybria Johnson who tallied 20 points. Juanaysa Singletary followed with 15. Teanna Peavy led the team with 8 rebounds.
Mary Baldwin College 0-22 (0-13 USAS) finishes the season on the road next weekend when they take on Averett University and Ferrum College.
