
DANVILLE, KY - Covenant College defeated Mary Baldwin University this afternoon in the final round of the Centre College Tip-Off Tournament 100-64.
The Fighting Squirrels led the game at the half after scoring 29 points in the second quarter to take the lead. Mary Baldwin went 6 for 7 behind the arc in the period with freshman Katelyn Crews tallying 13 points in the half.
Covenant was able to make adjustments during the break and dominated the 3rd period outscoring Mary Baldwin 32-1.
For the game, the Scots dominated the paint outscoring Mary Baldwin 70-10 in the lane. Covenant also took advantage of Mary Baldwin turnovers scoring 39 points when Mary Baldwin gave up the ball.
Mary Baldwin shot an impressive 46% from the floor and 57% from beyond the arc but it wasn't enough to overcome Covenant's inside game.
Mary Baldwin was led by Anna Ramirez who scored 18 points while shooting a perfect 3-3 from the three point zone. Kaitlyn Crews followed closely with 16 points while Nicole Blackburn grabbed 8 rebounds and tallied 5 assists.
Mary Baldwin University, 0-3, take a short break for Thanksgiving before returning to action next weekend against Wesleyan (GA) and Emory University.
