ATLANTA, GA - The Mary Baldwin University basketball team fell to Emory University this afternoon 89-43 in a non-conference matchup.

The Eagles jumped out to a 31-4 lead in the first quarter.  The home team created 9 turnovers in the first 10 minutes and controlled the boards.

The Fighting Squirrels settled down in the second half but it was too little to overcome the first half deficit.

Emory's balanced scoring attack was led by Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod who tallied 18 points.  Ashley Oldshue added 10 rebounds.

Mary Bladwin was led by Nicole Blackburn who scored a season-high 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.  Khai Davidson also tallied 8 rebounds.

Head coach Andrew Stephens said, "We played a really good team today.  They came out and really executed well in the first half and we did not.  We were much better in the last 20 minutes but we have to put two good halves together against  a team like that."

Mary Baldwin University, 1-4, continue play on Wednesday at Bridgewater.
