EMU Dominates the Boards in Win Over Mary Baldwin

Harrisonburg, VA - The Mary Baldwin University Fighting Squirrels traveled to Harrisonburg to battle the Royals of Eastern Mennonite this afternoon in their first game after returning from the holidays.  EMU won the non-conference matchup 87-33.

Eastern Mennonite used a full court press to build an early lead and create easy baskets.  At the end of the first quarter, Myneshia Walker tallied 13 points going 5 for 7 from the floor while Jess Washington grabbed 9 rebounds.

The Royals continued to build their lead throughout the game taking advantage of Mary Baldwin turnovers and controlling the boards.  EMU dominated the paint, grabbing 61 rebounds and scoring 62 points in the paint.

EMU was led by Myneshia Walker who finished with 21 points.  Jess Washington tallied a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Mary Baldiwn was led by Anna Ramirez who scored 10 points.  Nicole Blackburn added 7 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin University, 1-8 (0-0 USAS), continue non-conference play tomorrow when they return home to face Southern VA.  Tip off is 1:00pm.
