RALEIGH, N.C. - Mary Baldwin controlled play in the first half to take a 30-16 lead and the Fighting Squirrels led the rest of the way to defeat Meredith, 60-51, in USA South Athletic Conference action Sunday.

Jalen Gathers continued her strong play of recent games, leading the Squirrels with 26 points. Demet Saygili posted a double-double for MBU with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin improves to 8-6 overall while evening its conference mark at 4-4. The Squirrels return to action Wednesday evening at home against Averett.
