Coach Austin talks with her team.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Mary Baldwin women's basketball finished the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament with a loss against Virginia Wesleyan, 73-37, in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore guard Mekayla Clarke had a team-high 12 points as well as six rebounds and an assist. Freshman Imari Knight helped on the defensive end with 12 rebounds and three steals.

A cold-shooting first half put the Squirrels in a big hole. MBU made just 2-of-12 shots to trail 12-5 after the first quarter and the Marlins used a 21-9 edge in the second quarter to lead 32-14 at the half. Mary Baldwin shot just 20%, 5-for-25, in the first two quarters. The cold-shooting continued in the third quarter as the Marlins pulled away for the victory.

The Fighting Squirrels will return to action on Wednesday evening, Nov. 30, when they host Christendom at 5:00 p.m.
