
STAUNTON, Va. - The Mary Baldwin women's basketball team lost Wednesday afternoon in conference action, falling to Brevard College 78-56.
The Squirrels kept it close early, trailing 19-14 after one quarter with six points coming from junior A'Cetta Farrait. The Tornados maintained hhe lead with a 37-30 cushion at the half.
Out of the half, the efficient-shooting Tornados, coupled with Mary Baldwin turnovers led Brevard to a double-digit lead and the visitors pulled away to end the game 78-56.
Sophomore guard Mekayla Clarke led the Fighting Squirrels with 17 points, shooting 11-14 from the free throw line, and 10 rebounds. Farrait tallied 14 points with three assists and Codie Heilig added 11 points.
The Squirrels will return to action on January 7 to play William Peace University in Staunton in conference action at 4:30 pm.
