
STAUNTON, Va. - William Peace outscored Mary Baldwin 24-11 in the fourth quarter Saturday to defeat the Squirrels 64-53 in women's basketball conference action.
The visitors took control early, outscoring MBU 23-10 in the opening quarter. The Squirrels settled in during the esecond quarter and trimmed the deficit to 36-27 at the half.
Mary Baldwin dominated the third quarter, holding the Pacers to just four points, to forge ahead 42-40 entering the final quarter. Two free throws by A'Cetta Farrait with 17 seconds left in the third quarter put the Squirrels ahead.
The visitors took advantage at the foul line in the fourth quarter, making 8-of-12 free throws to pull away for the victory.
Codie Heilig led the Squirrels with a season-high 19 points and also pulled down eight rebounds. Imari Knight added 12 points while Farrait just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
MBU returns to action Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. with a road game at Brevard.
