
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Mary Baldwin women's basketball team lost Wednesday evening in conference action against Salem College. The Fighting Squirrels were defeated by Spirits 70-53.
The Squirrels had a shootout against the Pride in the first quarter and ended it tied at 13. However, in the second quarter, the Squirrels gave up 11 turnovers and went into the half down 32-23.
The Squirrels had two players in double-digits, Sophomore guard Mekayla Clarke led the Squirrels with 20 points and a team-high 11 rebounds for a double-double and Senior forward Codie Heilig tallied 12 points on an efficient 5-of-9 shooting and tallied 8 rebounds.
MBU is back in action Saturday, at 2:00 p.m. when the Squirrels travel to face Meredith in conference action.
