
RALEIGH, N.C - The Mary Baldwin women's basketball team lost Saturday evening in conference action to Meredith College 57-44.
The Squirrels went back in forth in the first quarter, going into the second quater down one with a score of 11-10. The Angels pushed the Squirrels into half and led 23-16. Mary Baldwin showed great defensive effort in the first two quarters as they limited kept the Angels shooting to just 9-of-33 (27.3%) from the field and 1 of 7 (14.3%) from three.
Yhe Squirrels came out of the half with a strong offense, cutting the lead to just five before the Angels 3-point shooting got hot and carried the home eam to the win.
Sophomore Guard Mekayla Clarke led the Squirrels on offense as she tallied 20 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting from the floor. Junior forward A'Cetta Farrait scored eight points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while dishing out four assists.
MBU returns to action Tuesday (1/31) as they travel to Buena Vista, Va., to face Southern Virginia at 6:00 pm in conference action.
