
BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Mary Baldwin women's basketball team lost Tuesday evening in conference action against Southern Virginia University. The Fighting Squirrels were defeated by the Knights 74-44.
The Squirrels were down early as the Knight's efficient three-point shooting and rebounding stopped the Squirrels from gaining momentum. The Squirrels showed a great defensive effort in the third and quarters holding the Knights to just 11 points in the 3rd and 16 in the 4th, but the Knights kept the lead to end the game.
The Squirrels had three players in double-digits, Junior forward A'Cetta Farrait led the Squirrels with 14 points and had four rebounds and two assists. Sophomore guard Mekayla Clarke tallied 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting and went 4-of-4 from the free throw line/ Clarke Also had a season-high seven steals. Imari Knight had 11 points with a team-high two blocks.
MBU is back in action Friday, at 6:00 p.m. when the Squirrels host Methodist in conference action.
