
STAUNTON, Va. – The Mary Baldwin women's basketball team lost Friday evening in conference action against Methodist University. The Fighting Squirrels were defeated by the Monarchs 58-46.
The Squirrels were back in forth early before the Monarchs started to pull away ending the first quarter up 19-10 and the half 37-21. However the Squirrels showed a great effort in the third and fourth quarters by going on rally's to reduce the Monarch's lead to just eight points in the fourth quarter with five minutes to play before the Monarchs' rebounding and shooting staved off the comeback and ended the game 58-46
The Squirrels had three players in double-digits, Sophomore guard Mekayla Clarke led the Squirrels with 16 points. She also had six rebounds and two steals. Junior forward A'Cetta Farrait tallied 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field and went 2-of-2 from 3-point range. Senior forward Codie Heilig gathered a team-high seven rebounds while scoring 10 points.
