
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Mary Baldwin University women's soccer team returned to action on Saturday, September 14th with a loss to Notre Dame College (Md.)
The Fighting Squirrels drop to 3-2 on the season while the Gators improve 4-1.
NDMU got on the board first in the 10th minute when Sara Morales scored a fastbreak goal with an assist from Madison Stoner. The goal held as the lone score in the first half.
After 40 minutes of scoreless action, MBU tied the game, 1-1, with a goal by Elena Guy in the 50th minute. The Gators scored the game-winning goal at the 86:41 mark with a cross by Kayla Grube to Colette Pierce, to beat MBU 2-1.
Myla Young got the win in net tallying 10 saves and improving to 4-1 on the season. Meanwhile, Anyka Wilkin stopped six shots in the loss.
MBU held a slim advantage in shots, 14-11, while each team took three corner kicks.
The Fighting Squirrels return to action on Wednesday, September 18th at 2 pm when they take on Marymount at home.
