Mary Baldwin Falls to Salem College

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Mary Baldwin University women's soccer team took on Salem College on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Squirrels lost the game 8-2.

Mary Baldwin falls to 5-12 on the season and 1-7 in the USA South, while the Spirits improved to 11-5-1 and 6-2 in the conference.

The Spirits opened the scoring in the fourth minute with Jae Lehman getting a breakaway past the defense to score her first goal of the contest. After 30 minutes of scoreless action, Lehman scored her second goal of the contest from a pass from Baylee Greenwood. Greenwood scored at the 36th minute mark to go into halftime up 3-0.

Lehman completed her hat trick in the 50th minute on a rebound shot from Kim Sephaphathi. The Spirts would go on to score four more goals in the second half to lead 8-0.

In the 83rd minute Annie Ammons got on the board for the Fighting Squirrels with a goal from the left side of the box. Caroline Metivier followed up Ammons with a goal in the 86th minute, 8-2. 

Anyka Wilkin received the loss in net for the Fighting Squirrels, tallying 16 saves. Hannah Wagner got the win saving four shots in 45 minutes.

The Fighting Squirrels will return to action on Wednesday October 30, when they host Trinity (D.C.) for the regular season finale.
