
STAUNTON, Va – Mary Baldwin scored two goals in the final five minutes Friday afternoon to break a 1-1 tie and defeat Christendom 3-1 in non-conference play.
Mary Baldwin struck early in the first half with a \goal by forward Brenna Kehoe after a pass from midfielder Quierra Hawkins.
Christendom would even the score in the second half, scoring on a penalty kick with 17 minutes left to play.
The Squirrels ended the game with a flurry of action on goals from Anna Cook and Vanessa Alfaro-Young in the final five minutes to put the game away.
Mary Baldwin held the edge on offense in shots 28-4 and corners 4-1.
With the victory, the Fighting Squirrels improve to 2-0 overall. Mary Baldwin returns to action Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Randolph College in Lynchburg.
