
STAUNTON, Va. - The Mary Baldwin women's soccer team improved to 3-0-1 on the season with an 8-1 victory Saturday over Regent University.
Mary Baldwin took control with two goals in the first six minutes, one each Brenna Kehoe and Anna Cook. Emma Forrest assisted on both goals.
Forrest scored a goal in the 11th minute off a passs from Vanessa Alfaro-Young, making the score 3-0.
Cook netted her second goal in the 21st minute with Kehoe motching the assist and Marleigh Breitwieser scored from a tough angle off a pass from Cook giving the hosts a 5-0 lead.
Regent found the scoreboard late in the first half on a penalty kick by Diana Ramos as the Squirrels went to the half with a 5-1 lead.
MBU added three goals in the second half for the final margin.
Kehoe completed a hat trick with two goals early in the second half. Cook notched an assist on Kehoe's first goal of the half and Forrest assisted on the next goal, her third helper of the contest. Alfaro-Young scored on a penalty kick for the final score of the day.
MAry Baldwin is back in action Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. with a home contest against Berry.
