Fighting Squirrels Overwhelm Sweet Briar

STAUNTON, Va. - The Mary Baldwin women's soccer team improved to 4-1-1 on the season with an 8-0 victory Thursday over Sweet Briar College.

Shea Rider started out hot with two goals in the first 15 minutes for the Squirrels,

Emma Forrest scored a goal in the 21st minute off a pass from Vanessa Alfaro-Young, making the score 3-0. 

Alfaro-Young then netted her own goal in the 29th minute and Alexis Mansfield scored from a tough angle off a pass from Kaitlin Bower giving the hosts a 5-0 lead.

Before the half Jordan Hange scored a goal off a quick assist from Katelyn Monteverde to send the Squirrels into halftime up 6-0.

After the half Brenna Kehoe scored in the 64th and 70th minutes to put MBU up 8-0. An assist from Isabelle Fraher on Kehoe's second goal of the night wrapped up the scoring in the Squirrels' victory.

Mary Baldwin is back in action Saturday morning (Sep. 17) at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Mennonite.
