Women's Tennis Drops Match At Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Mary Baldwin women's tennis team played its first match of the spring season Monday afternoon, losing by an 8-1 count at Bridgewater College.

The Fighting Squirrels picked up their lone win at the No. 1 singles flight where first-year player Katlyn Massie outlasted Malena Hoover in three sets. Massie lost the first set 6-4 but rallied to win the match, winning the next two sets 6-4 and 6-1.

The Squirrels fell behind 3-0 after doubles play, losing two of the flights in close matches. At No. 1 double Massie and Gretchen Lutz fell to Hoover and Rachel Crawford 8-4. At the No. 3 slot Alexis Seymore and Samantha Childs dropped a tough 8-6 decision to Bridgewater's Ryan Reober and Kaci Pitsenbarger..
