
Randolph College defeated Mary Baldwin 8-1 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action played on the Mary Baldwin courts.
The WildCats led 2-1 after doubles play.
Mary Baldwin picked up its lone point at No. 2 doubles where Lauren Hodgkins and Hannah Eastridge defeated Randolph's Cassidy Bell and Sabrina Dickerson 8-3.
Randolph swept the singles ladder, but several matches were closely contested.
At No. 1, Valentina Santos edged Mary Baldwin's Katlyn Massie 7-6, 7-5. Randolph's Zeinab Elkhansa held off Gretchen Lutz 6-3, 6-4 to win at No. 2. The match at No. 5 singles went to three sets as Bell outlasted Hodgkins. Hodgkins won the first set 6-3, but Bell evened the match with a tough 7-6 decision in the second set. In a tiebreaker to determine the winner, Bell won 10-3.
