Royals Drop Fighting Squirrels, 3-1

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Mary Baldwin University women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to Eastern Mennonite University in nonconference action on Thursday night.

The Fighting Squirrels are now 1-9 on the season, while the Royals improve to 7-2 overall.

Rachel Christian led the squad with 12 kills and also recorded 12 digs to register yet another kill/dig double-double. The freshman also added a pair of blocks in the loss. Olivia Modlin and Madison Varner each pitched in six kills, while Michaela Beverly added five. Emma Tomlinson posted 27 assists as well.

Defensively, Madison Cash recorded 14 digs to lead the team, while Nyla Isaac pitched in nine digs as well.

Hannah Johnson led the Royals with 10 kills and Abbi Hawkins added a team-best 22 assists. Johnson also led the squad with 25 digs.

The Fighting Squirrels are back in action tomorrow, Sept. 13, as they travel to face Bridgewater at 6 pm.
