Volleyball falls in USA South Tri-Match
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Mary Baldwin women's volleyball team traveled to Salem College for a USA South Tri-Match to take on Salem College and William Peace University on Saturday afternoon.  
The Fighting Squirrels lost the first match of the day against Salem 3-1 (19-25, 16-25, 25-16, 20-25). In the second match the Fighting Squirrels took on William Peace and lost 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 12-25, 20-25). Mary Baldwin falls to 1-16 on the season while Salem improves to 6-5 and William Peace improves to 11-3. 
In the first match MBU was led by Rachel Christian who tallied a team high 17 kills, 15 digs and a service ace. Emma Tomlinson led the Fighting Squirrels with a team high 36 assists, three service aces, and two digs. Madison Cash led the team defensively with a game high 17 digs. Brittany Sharon also tallied 14 digs. 
The Spirits were led by Kathryn O'Connell who had a team high kills and digs with 14. Hannah Delcamp had a game high 40 assists and five digs for the Spirits.
In the second match Christian led the team with 13 kills, seven digs, and one service ace. Tomlinson added 29 assists and eights digs, while Cash contributed with 22 digs and two assists. 
The Pacers were led by Brienna Laskowski who had 20 kills and three digs. Berin Gillespie led the team defensively with 21 digs and seven assists. Brittany Carpenter added 31 assists, 10 kills, and seven digs. 
The Fighting Squirrels will return to action on Thursday, October 3rd at 7 pm when they travel to Averett University.
