Fighting Squirrels Fall in USA South Tri-Match

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Mary Baldwin University women's volleyball team traveled to Raleigh, N.C. to take on William Peace and Salem in a USA South Tri-Match. The Fighting Squirrels dropped both matches of the day losing to William Peace 3-1 and Salem 3-0.

Rachel Christian totaled seven kill, nine digs, and three assists for the Fighting Squirrels while Deborah Black and Michaela Beverly each tallied six kills. Emma Tomlinson led the team with 17 assists also adding five digs and two kills. Defensively, Madison Cash registered a team-best 15 digs.

The Pacers were led by Abby Benton who tallied 11 kills, 10 digs, and one assist. Bergin Gillespie had a game-high 26 digs to go along with three service aces. Brittany Carpenter totaled 19 assists, with four kills and seven digs.

In the second match of the day the Fighting Squirrels were led by Olivia Modlin and Beverly who each totaled seven kills. Tomlinson added 22 assists and seven digs while Cash led the team with 16 digs and two assists.

The Spirits were led by Madelyn Chappell who totaled 10 kills and three digs. Hannah Delcamp tallied a game-high 26 assists, five digs, and a service ace. Taylor Moulton added 13 digs, four kills, and two assists.

The Fighting Squirrels will return to action on October 22 at 7 PM when they travel to Shenandoah to take on the Hornets.
