
FREDERICK, Md, - The Mary Baldwin University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 contest to Hood on Thursday night.
The Fighting Squirrels sit at 1-4 on the year, while Hood improves to 3-2 overall.
Leading MBU offensively was Rachel Christian as she finished with 13 kills, while Leah Sherrill was close behind with seven. Emily Penny finished with a team-best 12 assists and Soleil Rios Rolon tallied a team-high 11 digs.
The Fighting Squirrels bounced back in the second set with a 25-23 win with some clutch kills by Sydney Clarke and Sherrill.
For Hood, Caitlin Ambruster, finished with 15 kills to lead the team, while Ann Ofoegbu dropped in 12 kills to stop the momentum of the Squirrels.
The Fighting Squirrels return to action this weekend at the Maroon Classic, hosted by Roanoke College, on Sept. 9 and 10.
