Cross Country Teams Ready For 2022 Season

MAry Baldwin returns to the course Thursday (9/1) to start the 2022 season when the team travels to Lynchburg, Va. for the Randolph College WildCat Relays.

Fighting Squirrels head coach Wesly Arthur returns several key performers for both the men's and women's teams and has added several talented newcomers to improve the team's depth.

Leading the pack for the MBU women will be junior Alyssa Epperson. Epperson led the Squirrels at the 2021 conference championship meet with a 22nd-place finish, pacing MBU to a sixth-place effort in the team standings. Senior Brianna Parker also returns after scoring for the Squirrels at the conference meet.

The men will look to improve this fall after finishing 12th at the USA South meet a year ago,

MBU sophomore Brendan Plogger will lead the men's team into the fall season. Plogger ran at the front of MBU pack throughout his first season. Teammates Caleb Simmons and Christopher Kirksey also return after scoring at the conference meet in 2021.

MBU will host its lone home meet of the season on Oct. 7 at the Murphy Deming campus in Fishersville.
