MBU Cross Country Competes At EMU Heritage Invite

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Mary Baldwin cross country teams wrapped up their opening two days of competition, running Friday evening at the Heritage Invitational hosted by Eastern Mennonite University.

The MBU men placed sixth at the EMU event. Sophomore Brendan Plogger led the Squirrels' pack, placing 34th overall with a time of 19:36.7 over the 5K course.

First-year runner Jake English was next for MBU with a time of 20:11.3, two spots behind Plogger. Connor Hockman ran 21:42.3 to place 42nd, just ahead of teammates Christopher Kirksey in 43rd (22:34.6) and Din Rayche in 44th (22:36.6).

The women did not have enough runners to compete as a team but three individuals competed. Alyssa Epperson was the first MBU runner across the line, placing 20th overall with a time of 22:42.9, also on the 5K course.

Cloey Mazingo finished 22nd with a time of 26:18.9, one spot ahead of Brianna Parker with a time of 26:21.4.

Thursday, MBU competed in the Randolph College Relays.

Alyssa Epperson won the women's 1K Open event with a time of 4:11.2 while Kirksey won the men's 1K Open with a time of 3:22.1.
 
The men placed second in the 4x1K Relay.
